Looking for a Home Stager in Toronto or the GTA ?

When you're ready to start looking for a home stager to showcase your hard-earned property for sale, you should be absolutely sure that you do your due diligence. You will, after all, be trusting that person with your greatest asset - your home. So you need to be wise when deciding on who to hire.

Here are most common mistakes homeowners make when looking for a home staging professional:

Mistake #1: Looking for a low-priced stager

We all have a different budget, but you’re in the position to make a considerable profit if the home stager does her/his job right. The fee that the home stager charges shouldn’t be on the top of your things to consider. Why? Because while saving a few hundreds on their fees you can loose tens of thousands in sale value. Expense that you accrue by hiring a home stager is simply your investment in the sale of your greatest asset, so invest right for the optimal profit. Professional stagers charge from $200 and up for the initial consultation. Be alarmed if your potential stager charges a considerably smaller fee. Rates will vary depending on your area and the stager’s experience, but stay away from something too good to be true.

Our inventory is tastefully selected and we want every project to stand out.

Mistake #2: Looking for flashy titles

There are no “credentials” that truly exist in the home staging industry and there is no official organization ruling over the home staging industry. The letters you see after some home stagers’ names simply come from a particular home staging training institution that advertise them as part of their marketing strategy. What you have to do instead – is to look at the stager’s reviews, before and after photos, and real estate knowledge.

We love what we do; spicing things up or cooling them down, every house has its own character and way of absorbing colors, artwork and furnishings. We always find the best combination.

Mistake #3: Hiring someone without seeing their work online or in person

It will significantly raise your chances of success if you select someone to work with who has a presence on the net. Because you’re hiring a professional in a visual field, you want to see how they express themselves through their social media tools. A professional portfolio with before and after photos is a must. How else will you know what kind of results you can expect from a real estate stager? If you can’t find a particular home stager’s website or any online proof of their work, you have to ask yourself how serious they are about their business.

Mistake #5: Don’t forget to test their knowledge of the real estate market

Please understand that you’re not looking for just an interior decorator. Even though training in interior design, and talent and love for interiors must both be there in order to construct well rounded staging projects, make sure the stager is also familiar with the local real estate market. A home stager is as much a part of the real estate transaction as a real estate agent, and they should have a good idea of the market they’re in. If a stager doesn’t know how much homes usually sell for and how long they typically sit on the market, you should look for another stager in the area.
